What began as a single product opportunity has grown into a broader effort to improve food safety, maximize storage, and support operational efficiency across the Exact Sciences and Abbott Innovation and Discovery Campuses.

The opportunity originated through Edward Don sales representative Craig Madigan, who connected the culinary team with AFS as they explored alternatives to traditional aluminum speed racks and shelving. AFS then worked alongside the culinary and facilities teams to evaluate their spaces and identify CAMBRO solutions aligned with their current and future needs.

From Product Trial to Broader Solutions

The relationship began with demonstrations and on-site evaluations of CAMBRO Ultimate Sheet Pan Racks. Exact Sciences purchased an initial 10 racks, with their performance and durability quickly building confidence in the solution.

From there, AFS conducted site assessments covering more than 15 spaces across the campuses and developed customized Elements XTRA Shelving configurations. Using the CAMBRO Design System (CDS) Configurator, AFS provided 2D and 3D layouts that allowed stakeholders to visualize how each solution could maximize available space.

For coolers, freezers, receiving areas, and dry storage, High-Density Top Track Shelving offered additional capacity while supporting cleanliness, flexibility, and long-term growth.

The culinary team also visited the AFS Test Kitchen to experience the shelving firsthand, helping reinforce the value of implementing CAMBRO solutions on a broader scale.

Expanding the Partnership

As Exact Sciences and Abbott continue integrating operations, food safety initiatives and BPA concerns have created additional opportunities, including an initial conversion to CAMBRO FreshPro Square Round Food Storage Containers.

AFS’s support has extended beyond product selection and design. During the latest Top Track installation, AFS worked directly with the team to assist with assembly and demonstrate how easily the system could be adjusted and expanded as needs change.

What started with a single product has evolved into a campus-wide standardization effort. By combining CAMBRO’s innovative solutions with AFS’s local expertise, design capabilities, and hands-on support, the partnership continues to help Exact Sciences and Abbott create safer, more efficient foodservice operations while opening new opportunities for future growth.
